Small Screen Sparkle

If there's anything we love more than a night of Jimmy Fallon hosting an awards show, it was the sparkle and sass we saw on the red carpet at the Emmys last night. Check out some of our favorites below!

Time Travel: H's 10 year high school reunion

I attended my 10 year high school reunion this weekend….Flying back to Colorado Springs, where I graduated in 2000, I was met with gorgeous weather and mountains! I drove a car for the first time in 5 years and successfully found my way back to the hotel where I was sharing a room with a friend.

The reunion weekend consisted of 3 days worth of activities. Friday night included drinks at Old Chicago – I opted to meet friends at a bar near my hotel to catch up. Saturday was spent having brunch followed by a drive around the city visiting old houses where I grew up and seeing schools I attended.

That evening there was a more formal gathering where the official reunion took place. Everyone looked amazing! Sunday there was a picnic for families at the park – I, however, had to catch a flight back to New York and instead ended the weekend at my favorite fast food restaurant (not available in NYC…) Sonic! Here’s to the past 10 years and to everyone’s accomplishments – and here’s to the next 10!

Dog Days of Summer

While we've been working up a storm the past few months, in attempts to prolong the fading days of summer it helps to force yourself to get out to events and spend a few moments catching up with friends.

Matt Berson & Scoop were hosting a special event last night at Scoop in the meat packing district with a special in-store performance by up-and-coming musician Tamar Kaprelian. While H was preparing to head off to her high school reunion, I went with friends to represent cm.

Ciroc sponsored the event, so of course there was lots of alcohol flowing. After chatting it up for a while with Matt & his publicist (both of whom I know from my magazine days), we headed down to Turks & Frogs in the West Village. A bottle of rose and the appetizer sampler were the perfect way to finish off the late summer evening.

Ahoy Matey!

There's no better excuse than a summer weekend trip to Newport, RI to bust out the breton stripes, crisp button-ups and boyfriend blazers paired with denim cut-offs. And so I was off this weekend with my college roommate to explore the mansions, enjoy the beaches and appreciate everything that Newport has to offer. Nothing disappointed this city girl on her ultimate nautical getaway. Everything from staying at the Old Beach Inn B&B, to brunch at the Castle Inn, dinner at Simpatico and sunset drinks on the harbor while watching the sail boats cruise by added up to the perfect maritime weekend.

Duty calls

Although we were exhausted from having been up since 6 am to set up for our week-long trunk show at Henri Bendel, part of our job requirement working in the fashion industry is to make sure we're making it out to the fashion parties on a regular basis (we know, it's a tough life). Last night, a friend was having a launch party for his new production company so, weary or not, we had to make an appearance! (Sorry kids, we were too tired & haggard to jump in any of the photos ourselves though). The only thing missing from our night after listening to the MisShapes, schmoozing with half of the industry & downing a few too many glasses of champagne? A late night top-off at our local haunt, The Half King. Sometimes duty calls & we have to answer enthusiastically.

Monday bday party at the Monday Room

Birthday celebration last night for one of our close friends, S. Her birthday fell on Monday, so appropriately, she threw a swanky soiree at the Monday Room, located inside Public, a chic restaurant favorite in the neighborhood of Nolita. Wine, liquor, great company & lots of birthday love. Couldn't have asked for a better way to start the week!

Weekend Review

H escaped for an extended weekend to Seattle to visit with family and to celebrate her Grandmother’s 85th birthday! The weather was gorgeous (as it always is in Seattle when H visits….she doesn’t believe the myth that it’s always misty and raining in Seattle…or maybe she just brings the sunny weather). One of the nights, H went with her family to an amazing seafood restaurant – Salty’s – located on Redondo beach, where they had delicious food while watching the sunset over the Puget Sound. She wishes she had more time to have explored the amazing vintage and thrift shops that are located around the city – maybe next time!

J hung around the city - spending the day in Central Park with a friend where they had a picnic, listened to the free bands playing at summer stage & caught some rays in Sheep's Meadow. Then out to Williamsburg for a night of Brooklyn debauchery. Nothing beats a fun night full of old classics like the Levee and Union Pool where the PBR is cold, the cheese balls are delicious & the company is always great.
4 out of 5 apples on the big apple weekend review radar.
