It's NY fashion week which is always an exciting and crazy time! H has been busy working tons of shows (Erin Fetherston, Jenni Kayne, Erin Wasson, Alexandre Herchcovitch, just to name a few) & J has been to a couple parties and shows including her all-time fave, Betsey Johnson. Betsey didn't disappoint with an ode to the late McQueen, Kelly Osborne walking the show, Pat Fields sitting front row & Betsey's signature cartwheel down the runway to top it all off! We can't wait to see what all of the designers have planned for fall 2010!

No pain, no gain

It’s official, H&J finally have tattoos! We somehow missed the wave when everyone was having them done back in college – never knew what to get or where to get it! So for the past four years we have both been set on what we wanted and where but never managed to drag ourselves into a tattoo parlor to actually have them done. By a stroke of luck (or maybe fate???) we had a friend have a tattoo artist come and stay with her for a couple of weeks doing tattoos right out of the apartment!

The first question everyone asks when you show them your new tattoo is always – did it hurt??? Our response to them is a definitive YES! We tried taking pictures and video while we were having them done but we both look horrible and in pain (I guess we didn’t hide our discomfort as much as we thought we had…) We've posted a couple of action shots as well as pics of the final product.

We’re both now officially obsessed – J’s tattoo is of a nautical star and means the "bearer of good news" and H got a four leaf clover on her inside wrist. Between both of us we’re hoping that our good news and luck charms will wear off on us. The only question left is what to get next!

Fur the love of leather...

We're both obsessed with leather jackets and fur coats (when it comes to furs, H rocks the fabulous fauxs whereas I go for the real deal). They're chic, effortless and even practical - the furs are perfect for keeping us warm when the city gets cold! Currently, I'm pining after a Rick Owens deconstructed fur & leather jacket from his Spring 2010 collection. It has a beautifully cut asymmetrical fur bodice with leather sleeves. Totally understated rocker chic, which is what I'm all about these days. The jacket's on display at FIT's American Beauty exhibit right now & I'm hoping that I'll be able to save my pennies (or Benjamins - who are we kidding, this is Rick Owens, not Topshop) & splurge when it hits stores in a few months! In the meantime I might go for this all leather jacket from All Saints - it's a fraction of the price & still such a great cut!

It's restaurant week here in NY which means it's time for us to get in touch with our inner foodies & try out some of the best restaurants in the world. First up this week was Mercer Kitchen, Jean-Georges Vongerichten's SoHo hotspot. With exposed brick, dim lighting & a simple but delicious menu it was the perfect place for a chic dinner with friends. A few or our fave dishes were the steamed shrimp salad & the warm chocolate cake. Delish!

Wooly Bully

Attended a party for the US launch of FarFetch.com at the Wooly this week (the new private club inside the Woolworth building that's only open for private soirees right now). Vintage Belgian wallpaper, lamps rescued from the Plaza hotel, great music, beautiful fashion people and vodka aplenty. Just the way we like it!

Livin' it up for the Long Weekend

Three-day weekend was spent bumming around the city, catching up with friends and enjoying the semi-decent weather we're having (for NY this time of year) - can't think of a better way to spend it. Loft party in Brooklyn...drunk brunch with fashion friends...working on the jewelry line...grabbing drinks at our local haunt, The Half King...bar hopping in Williamsburg...watching Sam Worthington in 3-D in "Avatar"... Life doesn't get much better than that!
